I've always wanted to have a good online shopping mall. The problem is that I've been waiting for the right technology so it will run smoothly with daily management. I haven't found the dsolution yet, but TheFind.com provides a good example that my goal is attainable.
TheFind.com is just a basic shopping mall with affiliate links. There is nothing special about the site other than it allows companies to update their own feeds which allows for more unique content and better search engine rankings. Otherwise, it is just a big affiliate mall with an average interface.
The crazy thing is that TheFind.com is now one of the most popular online shopping destinations on the web.
This gives me a lot of hope that the shopping space is still pretty fluid and open to new competitors.
My problem now is still the same problem I have always had. I need to figure out what technology I am going to use to build my shopping site. I once had a shopping site where I built each page by hand and updated all the links by myself, but this was a nightmare.
My goal is to find a white label solution. Some company that will provide the feeds, layout, updates, etc... with my domain name on it. This seems like a no brainer for a compnay to do this. They could instantly expand the reach of their shopping technology while splitting revenue with the individual domain name owners.
Now I'm excited about building my online shopping presence online. Time to do some research and get this thing going.
