I need to create something big.

I don't want to nickle and dime my way to success.

I don't want to rely on buying traffic.

I don't want to rely on free search engine traffic that can take years to build.

I want to find an idea that will take off quickly and will spread and scale to a huge level.

This is my goal. I need to think big.

One of my problems is that I'm not a very technical person. Many of the big online success stories have been new sites with new applications. I don't have the ability or the money to fund a new search engine, video sharing site, etc...

This means that if I will hit a home run in the online world, I need to do it with good marketing. I need to find a product or service or idea that I can market better than anyone else.

I'm a fairly political person so I think I could start some sort of movement or political campaign, but this would be for political purposes and wouldn't necessarily lead to a large amount of revenue. I could probably sell merchandise (t-shits, bumper stickers, etc...), but this still wouldn't lead to the type of revenue and profits I am seeking.

My basic plan is to try to think of things that are needed in the online world that are not being delivered right now or are not being delivered very well right now. I also want to try to think ahead to figure out where the internet will be in ten and twenty years down the line.

I've been doing this internet marketing thing for a long time now.

I have a lot of experience and knowledge and it is time to start thinking big.

I think it is a good thing to think big.

I often set very agressive goals for myself as a way to motivate myself. I might not reach the goals, but the big goals force me to do things that I wouldn't otherwise do.

For example, I used to do a lot of slaes jobs. One sales job had an average salary of $50,000 per year. I told my sales manager I wanted to make $100,000 per year. She told me I shouldn't be so unrealistic. I told her that if I wanted to try to reach $100,000, she shoudn't try to slow me down. While the other sales people took a laid back attitude toward their jobs, I worked very hard and tried a few new ideas for how I could increase my sales numbers. Having the large goal led me to think in new ways while being very motivated to work hard. I didn't reach my goal of $100,000, but I made more than the $50,000 other sales reps made that year.

Good to see you thinking big.

Thanks Paul. That is my thinking exactly. If we set our goals big, we will act and think in different ways.

I think one of my problems is that I often follow the latest trends online. Once it is a common trend, it probably is too late to make good money with it. I like the concept of trying to make something big that establishes a trend or new way of doing something. It really is something I never think about, but now I will try to set a couple hours per week to this task. Good idea.
