I just saw a high traffic website that had Google ads on the bottom of the page. The ads were all for acai berry and teeth whitening offers. The domain names looked like they were from television news stations.
Since I have been doing online marketing for so long, I know that these ads are misleading scam offers. These are not news sites or real blogs or real testimonials. These ads are for free trials of products that are not very effective. These free trials start when you arder the product which leads a lot of people to get charged a few days after they get the product in the mail. It is almost impossible to get a refund when this scam is discovered by the unsuspecting customer.
Why does Google allow these scammy ads to fill up their ad boxes? I know they make a lot of money off these ads, but the money is being generated by scamming the people who trust Google enough to click on the ads. This is reducing the trust we all have in Google ads.
It seems to me that the Google content network ad boxes should be full of large companies who are trying to reach their customers. I would think that companies such as Coke and Pepsi would fill these ad boxes.
The fact that the Google content network boxes (on general high traffic sites) are full of afiliate scams instead of national brand offers tells me something is wrong with Google advertising.
Hopefully they get it figured out soon so they can stop participating in the affiliate scams.
