I can't wait for the death of cable tv.
I can't wait for the birth of digital tv.
On cable tv, we can only access a few channels owned by a few large corporations. These are not the "mainstream media" channels. They are the "monopoly media" channels because they are the only things we can access through our cable television.
One day, we will be able to access anything we want on our telvisions through the internet. I can't wait for this to happen.
It will be good for business, democracy, artists, musicians, directors, etc...
Instead of having three music channels that rarely play music, we will have thousands of music channels at our fingertips.
Instead of music channels being shown or not shown based on how many millions the parent company has to buy a spot in the cable lineup, the music channels will be selected by consumers based on what type of music and programs are being shown.
The same is true of science channels, history channels, news channels, sports channels, etc....
We will be able to access more content from around the world.
The end of monopoly television will also turn our livingroom television sets from a passive medium to an active one. With tv we just watch. With the internet, we can watch, but we can also participate and publish our own content to share with others if we want to.
I can't wait to say goodbye to monopoly television.
