I Want To Make A Difference

I just read the article in Inc Magazine about the founder of Toms Shoes. I wish the article was more about the business and less about the life of the founder, but the article gave me great motivation.

I want to make a difference.

A Discouraging Discussion With A Share A Sale Representative

I had a chance this week to talk with a representative from Share A Sale. The rep is in charge of helping publishers and affiliates like me achieve better results.

Unfortunately, I ended the conversation with less enthusiasm than I had going in.

I figured he would tell me that most of the top publ… Continue

Tough Decision - Shut Down A Site?

I have always had the philosophy that I would start a whole bunch of sites in order to see what works.

My problem now is that I know what works, but I have a bunch of sites that kinda work.

I already shut down a few of my sites that were not working or I had no interest in. One thing I figured out is that it is tought to work on a site if you don't have any interest in the subject matter.

Now I am down to my best sites, but I still wonder if I should close down a few more and really focus on… Continue

I highly doubt it. First, I like the idea of doing it myself and being able to say I am a self made man who built something on my own. Second, I am a control freak who doesn't want o bring other people into my business. I don't even want other emplo…

Do you have any plans to seek venture capitalist funding? I have always had the goal of being self funded. This means starting small and trying to grow in a profitable way without the need for a large influx of venture capital. It seems to me that…

That is discouraging. It might work now, but for how long? I just read an article by Ken Evoy about how he doesn't like SEO techniques because they never last. Very timely to read his comments and then to see this blog post. I suppose the rep at S…

Did I say above that I should pare my portfolio down to the two best sites? Yikes, now I am considering keeping eight sites. I think the sites can all work. My main problem is getting traffic to all of the sites. If I could find a good source of t…

The main problem is that I don't know for sure that the other sites don't work. I have been building them, but I never really gave them a strong time period of testing. It doesn't cost a whole lot to keep them around for another year, so now I am th…

That is the worst part about the scattershot strategy. You start lots of sites to see what works and then you find yourself working on a lot of different sites. I know it will be tough, but it is better to focus on what works. Even if that means yo…
