When I first started to make websites, I had to use design programs to make the websites. I wasn't very good at designing websites and adding extensive database driven features so my websites weren't very good.

Now, hosted applications have made things much easier. I can take my domain names and plug them into a hosted application such as Ning, Soapblox, WordPress, etc... and bingo I have a fairly good site with good features.

I think this development is giving the non-techies an advantage that the techies once had. Making money online used to depend greatly on how good a person was at creating a website. Now, I have the best sites I have ever had without any need to be a competent technical person.

This isn't the end of the road. The technical issue is just one aspect of making money online. However, without the technical hurdles in my way, I can devote more time to creating content and driving traffic into my sites.

I'm really happy that companies are offering hosted applications.
