Do you have any plans to seek venture capitalist funding?

I have always had the goal of being self funded. This means starting small and trying to grow in a profitable way without the need for a large influx of venture capital.

It seems to me that taking funding gives businesses a chance to buy lots of inventory or to hire lots of employees to build a better website, but it also places an enormous burden on the company to produce results very quickly.

I keep reading about companies who get all of this funding and make a lot of noise in the market, but are not profitable. Even Facebook had a hard time turning a profit.

I also have heard horror stories about people who started a business and accepted funding only to be kicked out of the company by the board of directors that became controlled by the venture capitalists.

Does anyone here have any experience raising capital and trying to meet expectations?

Does anyone here plan to raise money from venture capitalists while building a business?

I highly doubt it. First, I like the idea of doing it myself and being able to say I am a self made man who built something on my own. Second, I am a control freak who doesn't want o bring other people into my business. I don't even want other employees. I know this will all limit my potential growth, but I am not looking to build a huge business with a ton of complications.

To me, venture funding brings more complications than it does benefits.
