What Online Business Model Works Best?

I want to start a new website, but I don't know what online business model works best.

The options I am considering include small sites with focused landing pages for PPC, community sites like forums and social networks, shopping sites most likely a coupon site, travel sites, etc... and also a decision between creating a site based on ads or based on sales.

Any thoughts as I make this decision?
