Does anyone know how long the Google Analytics reporting delay is?

In other words how long is it from the time someone visits my site until the time they show up in my Google Analytics resports?

The reason I want to know is because I want to know what time of day is the best to show my ads. Google Analytics doesn't have a time of day report (I don't think) so it is hard to know exactly when people are coming through my site.

It seems like most people hit my site between 3 pm and 8 pm, but I wonder if the 3 pm rush is just delayed reporting from people visiting during their lunch hours?

I seem to remember hearing once that there was a three hour delay. However, I don't remember if that was for Google Analytics or if it was for AdSense reporting.

Hopefully, Google Analytics will one day allow us to see what time of day visitors are hitting our sites so we don't have to do guestimates.

I think it is different for each site. It depends on how big your site is and how many visitors it gets per day. Google probaly doesn't want to waste their bandwidth visiting a site to record a few visitors in one hour so they probably space out the reports and bot visits for sites with less traffic.

This would be a moot question if Google would include a time of day report in Analytics. Does anyone know if this report already exists? Maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot.
