Covergence Of Television And The Internet
I can't wait for the convergence of television and the internet.
We have so many channels, sites, and options to choose from on the internet.
On cable television, we get a monopoly line-up of limited channels with little flexibility and high cost.
I was talking with someone yesterday who told me he uses something called Media Center (Apple, Microsoft???) to connect online video from his computer to his living room television.
We need to transition the cable television media monopoly out the door.
Does anyone else know of products that are connecting the internet to our living room televisions?

Media center products will bring the internet to the living room television.
This will be huge because this is where Americans spend a lot of their time.
It also will break the "cable lineup" monopoly.

Seriously, why is there only one "history channel" and why is a program about people cutting down trees considered history? When I'm on the internet, I can find thousands of history channels and I can find the information I want, from various sources, and in various formats.
This is why doing business online holds so much promise. Cable television only offers one or two monopoly controlled shopping channels, but with a website, I can sell products and services to people all over the world.
The internet is an open market place with lots of options and competition while cable television is a monopoly controlled sales and marketing machine that robs our market and democracy of open access and information.

The fact that cable news outlets didn't want to appear "unpatriotic" by questioning the Bush Administration in a time of war is one reason why we are stuck in Iraq.

I just saw a report on my local news about ways you can access the internet content on our television screens.
Then I saw a speech by the CEO of Microsoft saying that we are headed to an all digital future where we all experience content in a virtual world through either smart screens or some sort of virtual reality glasses.
I definately think we need to get rid of the monopoly cable lineup as soon as possible. To have such limited choices within our democracy is embarrasing.

A reporter at the recent CES show in Las Vegas said that the big story was how most of the new television screens have built in capability for connecting to the internet. I can't wait until the monopoly cable lineup is forced to compete with the rest of the online world.
